I bought this book thinking it would explain the steps people follow through The Lightning Process, enabling me to do it at home. I was disappointed to find it was actually a promotional tool, trying to enrol readers onto the author's courses. In my local area they cost £725+ to attend.
In a nutshell, The Lightning Process uses a mix of tools including hypnosis, NLP, and positive thinking to rewire the brain and enable the body to heal itself. The process depends on neuroplasticity - the ability of the brain to change and learn, and on opening new pathways in the brain for positive thought and natural self-healing. These concepts appeal to me, but there are no instructions on how to do the therapy, except to go to his website, find your local practitioner, and enrol on a course.
Fortunately, it does seem he's realised that not everyone wants to follow this route, and appears to have written a follow-up book with instructions in it, so you can 'be your own coach'. It's called Get the Life You Love, Now: How To Use The Lightning Process® Tool Kit For Happiness And Fullfilment.
The book I read is full of case studies and examples of how the Lightning Process can help a huge range of different conditions from ME to depression. However it also has a chapter on the placebo effect and says if you don't believe in the Lightning Process, it won't work. Take from that what you will... but there are cheaper ways of benefiting from the placebo effect than enrolling on a £725 course.
Saying that, it is 'an introduction' so perhaps I was expecting too much. I'm still interested in the approach, so I may buy the second book. I just wonder whether it will tell me what I want to know, or whether it will be another promotional tool to try to get me onto an expensive course.
