Life without Limits by Nick Vujicic

This is an inspirational book written by a man who was born with no limbs, yet has lived a full and active life. He travels the world doing motivational speeches, and has learnt to live with the minimum of dependence on other people, despite his obvious disabilities. He's learnt to overcome the many challenges in life and find real purpose in his existence as a source of inspiration to others and as a Christian evangelist.

He explains how this journey panned out, from his early life, being bullied at school, to beating up the school's biggest bully despite having no limbs, then graduating from college, and finally finding a full-time calling as an evangelist.

He writes about his drive and determination, and explains how it was tough getting started as a motivational speaker. His offers to speak were rejected over and over, leaving him wondering if he'd ever be able to get his message out there, much less be able to speak for a living. He encourages readers to embrace opportunities, seek out and meet people that can create opportunities, and to live life to the full.

He says to choose your activities wisely, selecting things that will drive your career forward, rather than spending too much time in the pub. But then he says you should do something you enjoy every day and be ridiculous! Which seems counter to the previous advice, but I think he's trying to say there should be a sensible balance.

The book concludes with an action plan, which perhaps would be better segmented and placed at the end of each relevant chapter. It requires you to read through each chapter in turn, answering questions about it, and relating them to your own life and goals. For this reason, you might want to start at the end first, reading the chapters in parallel with the questions. It's a very interesting book that makes me want to watch some of Nick's presentations on YouTube.
