Emotional Healing in Minutes by Valerie and Paul Lynch

Emotional Healing in Minutes sounds impressive. Too good to be true? In my case, probably. It's  based on the Emotional Freedom Technique and involves learning energy points on the body, so you can tap them, and in so doing, release negative emotions, virtually instantly!

I tried it. Perhaps it did help a little. When I was feeling emotionally charged, not in a good way, I would attempt to follow the instructions to tap different parts of my body and face, to release this bad emotional energy, and because it took such a lot of concentration to work out where I was supposed to be tapping, and it involved both my mind and my body, it was very distracting from the problem in hand. Having said that, I didn't feel it was achieving anything other than causing a distraction. And I wasn't convinced that tapping parts of my body was achieving anything else.

The tapping is accompanied by positive affirmations - statements that recognise your problem or pain, but take a positive stance on it. I followed the instructions for a couple of weeks and then got fed up. Frankly, I was bored and didn't think I was achieving anything.

The programme is supposed to help people overcome phobias, anger, even pain, and other negative states. Perhaps it helps if you do it for a longer period. You can go through multiple rounds trying to deal with different aspects of a problem, and achieve layers of healing, say the authors.

It looks at different types of problems, addictions, pain, childhood beliefs, and there are visualisations to help you overcome limiting beliefs. It even claims to help with weight loss and relationships. It's an interesting read, so if you feel this approach might benefit you, give it a try!
