This beautifully illustrated, full colour book is a great resource for anyone who wants to include more superfoods into their life, with a great healthy recipe to accompany every superfood mentioned. You get full explanations of the nutritional contents of the different superfoods, their health benefits, and how they can help to ward off disease. You might feel a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of superfoods, but it's good news, because it draws attention to the excellent nutritional profiles of many ordinary, every day fruits and vegetables, which you can easily incorporate into a healthy diet and reap the benefits. It looks at 'superfood' powders as well, their health credentials and the best ways to consume them.
The author, a nutrition specialist, who has appeared on TV and in various newspapers and magazines, has seen the health benefits of superfoods among her own family members. I'd hoped for a little more anecdotal stuff about exactly how they've helped her family, but despite being short in this area, it's full of other great health and nutrition information.
It's more of a 'dip in and out' read, rather than something you'd read from start to finish. I think I'll enjoy trying some of the recipes, which include some super-healthy and quite unusual ideas, including a frozen grapes lolly! It is beautifully illustrated, but there aren't pictures of *all* the recipes, so you have to use your imagination a little - not a big problem. I'm looking forward to trying some!
The book is broken down into sections with fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, nuts, sweets, powders, teas and oils. It's very well researched and will surely inspire any reader to include more superfoods in their diet.
